Howard Stern said this week that restricting access to guns is a bad idea, as firearms put the good guys on equal footing with the bad ones. (Except Pulse had an armed security guard, a "good guy.") He believes “wolves” will always find a way to kill “the sheep” no matter what.
“The most gun-free zone on the planet is a plane. On 9/11, what did the wolves do? They said, ‘This is great. We’ll just kill the sheep with box cutters. The wolves are always planning. They’ll use an airplane, fly it right into a building. They don’t need AR-15s.”
Yes, Howie, and what did America do after 9/11? We regulated plane travel on a much more intense level. We expanded the “no-fly” list and we made it harder for everyone to get on a plane, including more advanced screening including full-body scans and mandatory shoe removal. And a 9/11-style attack hasn’t happened in America since then. Using planes as weapons is now nearly impossible.
Howie also says he is "not for taking away people’s rights." But he, and others, are okay with taking away people's lives? I'm pretty sure the right to life trumps (no pun intended) the right to bear arms (which is in itself a right that has been misunderstood for decades).
What makes people like Howard think that regulating guns cannot be done in the way we regulate airport security?
I know why. Money and penises.
