The Nasty Woman Case for Hillary Clinton

If you know anything about Donald Trump, you know he respects women. He respects women more than anyone else, believe him. He respects women so much, in fact, that he displays it by not even waiting to touch them. He just does it.

And as you may have seen in last night’s third and final presidential debate (even though only one person on that stage was acting presidential), Trump followed up his self-declaration of female admiration by calling Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman.”

I don’t know about you, but as soon as a man degrades me and calls me a name, my panties instantly come off. I mean, he respects me!

Let’s get real here. Donald Trump sure is a lot of things—philanderer, cheater, hypocrite, clandestine Chinese enthusiast. One thing he is not is a champion for women.

During the debate, Trump falsely stated about abortion, “You can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb on the ninth month on the final day.”

He got the facts so wrong about the reality of and science behind abortions that it was deeply offensive to women and doctors everywhere and, ultimately, dangerous.

Over 91 percent of abortions take place within the first 13 weeks of pregnancy. And as Vox explained, “If you rip a baby out of the mother’s womb at three days before it was due, that is a C-section. If you intentionally harm and kill the child, that is infanticide. It is not abortion — and it is not what Clinton has ever supported.”

Trump does not respect women because he clearly doesn’t listen to their stories. What about women who find out at 36 weeks that a serious brain defect will result in their child not surviving beyond birth? What about that heartbreaking decision that mother will be forced to make?

Clinton, of course, understands and sympathizes with these women. As she stated passionately during the debate, “I have met with women who toward the end of their pregnancy get the worst news one could get, that their health is in jeopardy if they continue to carry to term or that something terrible has happened or just been discovered about the pregnancy.”

Clinton also continued with her crusade by diving into the disaster that would result in Trump selecting Supreme Court Justices who would possibly decide to overthrow the landmark case regarding women’s right to choose.

"It isn't only about Roe v. Wade," she said. "It's about very stringent regulations on women that block them from exercising that choice, to the extent that they are defunding Planned Parenthood. Donald has said he's in favor of supporting shutting down Planned Parenthood."

Many women, especially those with low incomes, rely on Planned Parenthood for regular health checkups, STD testing, contraception, and mammograms. Trump believes the organization shouldn’t receive any money for these services simply because they also provide abortions, even though only 3 percent of their services involve this service.

Last night, Clinton demonstrated her commitment to fighting for every woman’s right to make her own decision regarding her health. She put her foot down and she claimed ownership of her feminism. Trump, on the other tiny hand, did the exact opposite. He displayed his disrespect for women, and he showcased his ignorance regarding how abortions and labor work.

Abortion debate aside, Trump also lied through his teeth about his previous statements regarding women’s appearances. No matter how hard he tries to deny it, he has indeed called women “fat pigs,” he’s called them “losers,” and he’s said that some of the women claiming he assaulted them are lying because, “Look at her. Look at her words. I don’t think so,” and, “She wouldn’t be my first choice.” And you can’t forget how he said he likes to “grab ‘em by the pussy.”

The alt-right also tries to do all they can to bring up Bill Clinton’s past as a way to “prove” that Hillary is anti-woman. They claim she “attacked and intimidated” Bill’s accusers. Except all of that has been debunked.

Hillary has been standing up for women and their families her entire career (see here, here and here. Oh, and here and here). Trump has been degrading them for all of his (Google “Trump” and “women” and you’ll see for yourself).

Trump likes to say that Hillary is all talk and no walk. But that’s just not true. Hillary has been sashaying the hell out of advocating for women. And it’s time we do the same for her.

And no, you don’t have to vote for Hillary just because she is a woman. But because she respects them, she listens to them, she fights for them.

So come on, all you nasty women. Put your hands up!
